Forge Terms of Service
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
These terms are an agreement between you and Forge Software LLC LLC, a Kansas limited liability company ("Forge," "we," "us"), covering the Forge mobile app, the Forge web app at app.coachwithforge.com, and our website at coachwithforge.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Forge.
We have written these in plain English on purpose. Questions: support@coachwithforge.com.
1. What Forge is
Forge is a coaching platform for powerlifting and strength training. Coaches build and assign training programs, athletes log their sessions, and both sides share progress data, training videos, and messages. Forge is the software that connects them.
What Forge is not: Forge is not a coach, a gym, a medical provider, or a party to any coaching relationship. We provide the tools; the coaching itself happens between you and the people you connect with.
2. Who can use Forge
- You must be 18 or older. The app verifies your date of birth at signup, and you confirm your age when creating an account. Providing a false date of birth is a violation of these terms and grounds for account termination.
- You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
- You may not use Forge if you have previously been banned from it.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your account and everything done through it. Keep your password private, and tell us at support@coachwithforge.com if you believe your account has been compromised. One person per account — do not share logins.
4. Health and safety — read this one
Powerlifting and strength training involve inherently heavy loads and inherent risk of injury. By using Forge you acknowledge and agree that:
- Nothing in Forge is medical advice. Programs, RPE targets, recovery suggestions, progress metrics, and anything a coach sends you through the Service are training information, not medical guidance.
- Consult a physician before starting or changing a training program, especially if you have any medical condition, injury, or are unsure whether heavy training is safe for you.
- You train at your own risk. You are responsible for using appropriate equipment, loading weights you can safely handle, and stopping when something is wrong. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you assume all risks arising from your training, and Forge is not liable for injuries, health outcomes, or property damage arising from training decisions made by you or your coach.
5. Coaches and athletes are independent
- Coaches on Forge are independent users, not employees, agents, or representatives of Forge. We do not verify coaching credentials, certifications, or qualifications — including for coaches listed in the Discover marketplace. Choosing a coach is your decision and your responsibility.
- Any payment arrangement between a coach and an athlete for coaching services happens outside Forge, directly between the two of you. Forge does not process, guarantee, mediate, or take responsibility for coaching fees. (The optional price tier a coach shows on a Discover card is informational only.)
- Disagreements between coaches and athletes are between those users. We may, but are not obligated to, get involved.
6. Your content
"Content" means everything you put into Forge: programs, logs, notes, bodyweight entries, recovery and injury notes, meet data, messages, profile information, and training videos.
- You own your content. Forge claims no ownership of it.
- License to operate the Service: so the app can function, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, process, and display your content — to you, and to the users you share it with under the visibility rules described in our Privacy Policy (your connected coach or athletes, message recipients, and, only if you opt in, your Discover card and featured videos). This license exists solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service. It is not a license for us to publish your content, use your videos in marketing, or sell your data, and it ends when your content is deleted (subject to the deletion timeline in the Privacy Policy).
- You are responsible for your content. Only upload what you have the right to share, and be thoughtful about the personal detail you include in free-text fields — anything you type into a shared note or Discover card will be visible to the people those features share it with.
7. Acceptable use
Do not:
- harass, threaten, or abuse other users, or send spam;
- upload content that is illegal, sexually explicit, hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- upload content depicting anyone under 18;
- misrepresent your identity, age, or coaching credentials;
- attempt to access other users' data, probe or circumvent our security or access rules, or scrape the Service;
- reverse-engineer, resell, or rebrand the Service;
- use Forge for any purpose other than strength-sport coaching and training.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules — with or without notice, at our discretion.
8. Reporting problems
To report objectionable content or behavior, email support@coachwithforge.com with a screenshot or description. We review reports promptly, remove content that violates Section 7, and may eject the responsible user. If in-app reporting or blocking tools are available in your version of the app, you may use those as well.
9. Subscriptions and purchases
- Coach features beyond the free tier require a paid subscription. Plans differ by roster size (how many athletes you can actively coach), and one-time roster add-ons may also be offered. Current tiers and prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play and are billed to your store account. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies — we cannot issue App Store or Play refunds directly.
- If your subscription lapses, your data is not deleted; features beyond your current tier (for example, roster slots over your limit) simply become restricted until you resubscribe or reduce usage.
- We may change plan features or prices going forward; price changes for an existing subscription will follow the notice and consent rules of the app store you purchased through.
- The free tier's limits (currently one active athlete for coaches) may change over time.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, who can see what, and your controls — including in-app data export and account deletion. The short version: no ads, no selling data, and your health-related training data is never used for marketing.
11. Ending your account
- You can leave anytime. Profile → My Data → Delete My Account schedules permanent deletion with a 30-day recovery window, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can also simply stop using the Service.
- We can terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms, create risk for other users, or where the law requires it. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.
- Sections that by their nature should survive (4, 5, 6's responsibility clause, 13–17) survive termination.
12. The Service itself
We work to keep Forge fast and reliable, but we may change, add, or remove features, and the Service may occasionally be unavailable (maintenance, outages, events beyond our control). We recommend using the in-app export periodically if you want an offline copy of your training history.
13. Our intellectual property
The Forge software, design, name, and logo belong to Forge Software LLC LLC. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose while these terms are in effect. Forge is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any powerlifting federation.
14. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of calculated metrics (estimated one-rep maxes, DOTS scores, projections), and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Training outcomes depend on you and your coach, not on us, and we make no guarantees about results.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: Forge Software LLC LLC's total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and (b) $50; and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or personal injury arising from training activities (see Section 4). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
16. Indemnification
If someone brings a claim against us because of your content, your coaching services, your training of others, or your violation of these terms or the law, you agree to defend and indemnify Forge Software LLC LLC against that claim, including reasonable legal fees.
17. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, contact us at support@coachwithforge.com — most issues can be resolved informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Kansas, and both sides consent to their jurisdiction. You may also have rights in your local small-claims court.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Forge evolves. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use Forge after that date means you accept the updated terms. The current version always lives at the URL where you are reading this, with its effective date at the top.
19. The fine print
- If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- These terms plus the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
- We may assign these terms as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale; you may not assign them.
- Our not enforcing a provision today does not waive our right to enforce it later.
- Apple and Google are not parties to these terms, but where you downloaded Forge from their stores, their standard third-party-beneficiary terms for apps apply.
